Rydell and Glacial Ridge National Wildlife Refuges
Position ID
Primary duties for this position will include Geographic Information System organization, prairie plant identification, and assistance with refuge management and facilities. The individual will use ATVs, GPS, and Excel databases. Secondary duties of this position will be to assist other Refuge staff with invasive species monitoring and treatment, public use programs, biological surveys, hydrological monitoring and maintenance as needed. Experience with GIS, GPS, and prescribed fire (S-130 & S-190) are beneficial but not required.
  • Glacial Ridge and Rydell National Wildlife Refuges
  • On the job training to learn plant survey methods (line-transect, robel pole readings, plant identification, etc.), ATV, Defensive Driving, and possibly others. CPR, First Aid, S-130, S-190, and Fire Refresher may also be available.
  • Rydell NWR has 7 miles of trails which include 2 fishing piers for the general public as well as for interns to use. In addition exceptional fishing, hiking, camping and wilderness experiences are all within a few hours drive.
