Visit Beth on Facebook.
Beth is originally from Syracuse, New York, and graduated from Saint Bonaventure University with a degree in History. After graduation, she worked as a tour guide in the Adirondacks and, while there, learned about SCA from a coworker. Beth was worried her History degree was not a good match for “the hippies at SCA,” but applied anyway… and in January 2003, her long journey with SCA began. From January-April 2003, Beth’s first SCA internship was leading 50-minute living history tours of Scotty’s Castle in Death Valley National Park, California. January-March 2004 saw Beth as an SCA Recruiting Intern out of the New Hampshire office, and she traveled to schools in Oregon, Washington, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, recruiting for SCA. Beth’s third SCA internship was in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio, where she worked at the visitor’s center, did historic lock demonstrations, assisted at kid’s camp, led interpretive programs on the train, and would ride the bike path doing roving interpretation.
Beth became the Great Lakes Recruiting Representative in September 2006 and recruited in the Great Lakes for four seasons. In August 2010, Beth became the Northeast Recruiting Representative and moved to Boston to cover her new region. She enjoys getting people “jazzed up for SCA” and hearing SCA alumni stories on her travels. This is her eighth year being an SCA recruiter and she is ready to answer your questions about SCA!

Takeya Meggett began her SCA career in 2011 as a Crew Leader with the Essex County, New Jersey, Community Crew. She then continued with SCA in Ely, Nevada, working on a Leader Crew in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. Later that year Takeya served three months as an SCA intern for Grand Teton National Park, after which she moved on to yet another SCA internship with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in the Hudson Valley. In addition to the internships, Takeya was also selected to lead the NPS Academy in Alaska, which eventually led to a full-time staff position as a recruiter for SCA’s New York City Sandy Recovery Program. In just two months, Takeya recruited over 100 NY/NJ youth to serve with SCA. Takeya has a passion for the outdoors and for conserving nature, and with that passion she vows to continue to spread the word about SCA and its mission. Serving with SCA has ultimately changed Takeya’s life and she’s excited to continue the SCA legacy as a full-time recruiter for the Mid-Atlantic region.
