All costs associated with fielding and supporting SCA Internships are shared between SCA and the host agency/organization. Costs presented above represent the host agency/organization's share of the cost. The actual cost for fielding and supporting SCA Conservation Interns are higher, with SCA covering the additional cost. For further details on the SCA cost-share please contact SCA.
SCA carries out its activities under the terms of a cooperative agreement which has been (or will be) signed with your agency/organization. For most federal agencies (BIA, BLM, DoD, FWS, NPS, USFS, USGS) a comprehensive agreement covering all units, offices, facilities or installations already exists.
SCA Provides:
- Recruitment and presentation of pre-qualified applicants based on your job specifications
- Round-trip travel and living allowance (direct payment/reimbursement to Intern)
- Liability and 24-hour accident insurance coverage (longer term Interns are also offered full health insurance)
- Complete customer service support and liaison services between SCA staff and Intern
- AmeriCorps Education Award (as available) at no cost to you
- Vehicle leasing, equipment and training available. Call SCA for details.
You Provide:
- Internship position(s) that are challenging, educational and include a level of responsibility while also meeting your specific project needs
- Supervision and training appropriate to the position
- Intern housing (or SCA bills agency for Intern's accommodation)
- On-the-job transportation
- Intern evaluation at project completion (form provided by SCA)
For all agencies/organizations above, SCA will submit invoices based on actual costs incurred which may be less than or exceed the estimates listed. Final costs will reflect round-trip travel expenses, length of Internship and amount of living allowance. These estimates do not include any of the costs associated with Intern housing. Should you not have onsite housing available, SCA can manage intern rental payments based on your local housing market. SCA will bill you the actual housing costs (including utilities, etc.) plus an administrative fee. For further details please contact SCA at 603-543-1700 and ask to speak with a member of the Conservation Intern Team, or email:

Department of Defense (Air Force, Army, Army Corps of Engineers, Marine Corps):
SCA carries out its cooperative programs under the terms of a national Cooperative Agreement with the Department of the Army. The funding of the DoD’s share of the costs will come from the host installation’s operating budget which will be MIPR’d to the contracting office at Fort Detrick, MD for payment to SCA. For further information on the MIPR process please contact Ray Auger (603-543-1700 ext. 144;

).
Department of Defense (Navy):
SCA carries out its cooperative programs on naval installations under the terms of a national Cooperative Agreement with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFACENGCOM). The NAVFACENGCOM will provide its own centrally managed funding for the Navy’s share of the costs for most Internships; therefore, positions will usually not be funded out of your installation’s budget. Please submit your Intern Request Form attached to a command letterhead request directly to the Navy Cooperative Agreement Technical Representative, Walter Briggs at NAVFAC Northwest, 1101 Tautog Circle, Suite #203, Silverdale, WA 98315; telephone (360) 396-0922; DSN 744-0922; email
