Recreation Technician (local candidate preferred)

This position is established on the Appalachian Ranger District.  The purpose of this position is to serve as a resource crew member in support of unit programs in timber, recreation, soil and water, and wildlife. Performs the full range of standardized forestry support duties for timber, recreation or other activities.  Assists in one or more of the following duties; cruising timber by following specifice instructions on taking and recording simple measurements and running compass lines in the field; noting compliance with rules and regulations on parking, campfire, saniutation, use of picnic sites; maintaining and cleaning up recreation areas; assisting with the maintainance of wildlife fields and other openings ( includes use of mowers and other equipment);  performes wide variety of soil and water restoration work.
