These positions will be responsible for supporting operations and maintenance activities at developed campgrounds and other recreation sites on the Walla Walla Ranger District of the Umatilla National Forest. Duties include:

  • Providing recreation information to the public.
  • Fee collection and ensuring compliance with Forest Service regulations.
  • Performing light maintenance using hand and small power tools.
  • Maintaining clean restroom and other facilities.
  • Ability to obtain a government driver’s license.
  • Ability to become certified as a collection officer.
  • Work well in a crew setting, and be prepared to work in inclement weather.

The duty station for these positions is at the Tollgate Work Center which is located in Oregon, approximately 45 miles south east of Walla Walla, Washington. The work center is about ¼ mile off Oregon State Highway 204. Government housing is provided at this location. Government housing would be either a bunkhouse/dormitory or travel trailer with utilities and kitchen facilities.Employees provide and prepare their own food.The normal work week for these positions is Friday through Tuesday.*Please note: This position is not eligible for an AmeriCorps education award.
