Have you ever wanted to get together with other SCA Alumni in your community? Maybe you want to talk about the good old days of working in that beautiful National Park or you feel like pulling some invasive species, or perhaps you would like to work on that trail in your community park. If so, we have some good news.

Have you ever wanted to get together with other SCA Alumni in your community? Maybe you want to talk about the good old days of working in that beautiful National Park or you feel like pulling some invasive species, or perhaps you would like to work on that trail in your community park.
If so, we have some good news. The SCA Alumni Council, consisting of 17 members from across the country, is actively working to connect alumni in their own communities. We lead service projects and gatherings and are a voice for alumni by providing advice and feedback to SCA. We aspire to actively represent SCA and our conservation ethos through service.
You can find out more about each of us on the Alumni Council Bios [1] page and see if there is a Council member is in your area. If you have ideas for projects in your community, please email one of us and we’ll be in touch about how we can support you.
To connect with your fellow SCA alums, first, make sure that your contact information is up-to-date. Just click on this link and update [2].
It's now easy to stay connected with the entire SCA Alumni community through the new SCA Alumni Facebook page. You can share past experiences, reconnect, get updated on the Council, and plug in to valuable SCA resources like job boards.
Check us out by searching for "The Student Conservation Association Alumni" page. And while you're there, be sure to click that you "like" us!
And now a little bit of what is going on with some of our Alumni Council members this month:
Jeff Chen is one of the founders of the nonprofit organization Pick Up America whose mission is to inspire a transition toward zero waste by walking across the country picking up trash. In late May, Pick Up America will begin walking across Virginia picking up trash from the roadside 6 days a week.
“Basically, we'll be going from Arlington to Manassas to Culpepper to Charlottesville and through the George Washington National Forest to get to West Virginia.
We'll also be tabling at Bonnaroo.” says Jeff.
If you are interested in more information go to the PUA Tour [3] page or you can contact Jeff directly at 301.523.1257 or jchen21@gmail.com [4].
If you are in the Seattle area this summer be sure to go out to the Farmer’s Market and look for Alumni Council member Sarah Hanson. She will be there with her djembe drum spreading the word about SCA and supporting the local farmers.
We are looking forward to a great year of awareness and reconnecting and for SCA alums to volunteer in their communities!
