Education and Diversity Projects Coordinator
APS Physics' Education and Diversity Department seeks a Project Coordinator to join our group in College Park, MD. This position will be reporting to the Asst. Director of Education and Diversity, this position will provide both technical and administrative support for grant funded projects such as the "Physics Teacher Education Coalition" and the "Minority Bridge Program."
Major areas of responsibility include project operations, communications and meetings. Project operation tasks include assisting > with collection and analysis of data, assisting with the preparation of project reports and tracking expenses and reviewing/ approving invoices. Communications tasks include maintaining web pages, coordinating the department exhibit booth, and helping develop publicity materials. Meeting tasks include managing banquet event orders, organizing registration and communicating with participants. As projects evolve, the ability to be flexible is key.
Bachelor's degree required in science, math or technical subject area. Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision for extended periods, proactively identify and respond to needs, and exercise judgment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to handle complex projects are needed.
Computer skills and proficiency in standard office equipment and software, especially advance capability in Excel, are essential. Good knowledge of statistics and ability to generate meaningful graphs are necessary.
