SCA's High School Crew season kicked off this year on June 14 with over 40 crews entering the field. This summer SCA will provide a conservation service experience to 1,100 members.
The breakdown:
- 106 National Crews consisting of 209 leaders and 661 members
- 53 Commuting Crews consisting of 65 leaders and 467 members
- North Cascades Wild consisting of 3 leaders and 36 members
- 59,148 total person days (compared to 50,500 in 2006)
- Approximately 465,000 hours of service
Types of Work:
- Erosion control: water bars, check dams, retaining walls, drainage/culvert installation
- Brushing, clearing and vegetation removal
- Construction: rock and wood steps, bridges, crib walls, boardwalk and other trail structures
- Restoration: storm damage, fire and ORV use
