The Student Conservation Association (SCA) today announced the Boeing Company Charitable Trust has renewed its support for SCA's Seattle community programs through 2011. A new Boeing grant of $75,000 will enable up to 150 Seattle-area high school students to benefit from hands-on outdoor work experience and educational opportunities.

The Student Conservation Association (SCA) today announced the Boeing Company Charitable Trust has renewed its support for SCA's Seattle community programs through 2011. A new Boeing grant of $75,000 will enable up to 150 Seattle-area high school students to benefit from hands-on outdoor work experience and educational opportunities.SCA community conservation programs serve as an entry point into a continuum of growth opportunities including leadership development, conservation work skills, conservation ethic, and community service. The ultimate objective is to create a diverse, informed and engaged citizenry who will continue to practice stewardship throughout their lifetimes. The SCA experience also creates pathways for young adults to pursue jobs and educational opportunities that might previously have been out of reach.
In particular, Boeing funding will assist with strengthening and expanding its recruitment and retention efforts to ensure that SCA can continue attracting a talented and diverse applicant pool.
"The Boeing Company is pleased to partner with the Student Conservation Association in providing quality environmental stewardship programs that engage high school students throughout the Puget Sound Region," said Liz Warman, director of Boeing Global Corporate Citizenship in the Northwest Region. "By making these investments, we hope to train the next generation of environmental leaders."

Across the nation, thousands of SCA members annually protect and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks and community green spaces in all 50 states.
