Job Title: ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST I
Description: STORMWATER QUALITY SPECIALIST. $1,559.17 - $2,739.55 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center. Performs skilled professional work planning, developing and implementing environmentally related projects and stormwater quality monitoring programs.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in an Environmental, Physical or Natural science related to the area of assignment PLUS two (2) years of professional experience in a related environmental field. Masters Degree preferred. Special Requirements: Prior to employment, must possess or obtain a valid Florida operator's license. Must obtain within nine (9) months of employment, FDEP Erosion and Sediment Control Inspectors Certification. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or manmade disaster which may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed. Desired: Familiarity with stormwater treatment practices and aquatic ecosystems. Knowledge and experience in surface water, groundwater and/or stormwater monitoring and Florida Department of Environmental Protection QA/QC requirements and procedures. Experience using automated sampling equipment and instrumentation for water quality samples and data. Small boat operation experience. Knowledge and experience in database and statistical analysis software for data analysis, evaluation and reporting. Knowledge of Municipal/ Industrial NPDES permits. Conduct environmental site assessments/inspections of County facilities, prepare stormwater contamination prevention plans, recommend BMPs for permit requirements and participating in/developing environmental training programs. Experience recruiting and training volunteers.
