The Piedmont Council, Boy Scouts of America, is one of the smallest, oldest and most involved Boy Scout Councils. Its programs serve Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and co-ed Venturing and Learning for Life programs, ultimately nurturing girls and boys from age 6 through 21. We comprise three paid staff and many volunteers.
We are looking for a mature Program Manager to join our small, team.
The Program Manager will be responsible for
- initiating and developing new programs and events
- building upon and establishing positive relations with community leaders, school administrators and partner organizations, and
- being the “go to” person for program operations.
The successful candidate will:
Be able to wear many hats and multitask to see programs through from inception to completion while coordinating volunteers
Have an engaging and motivating personality
Be self-motivated, and able to prioritize effectively and work independently
Be experienced in creating and executing events
Be expected and willing to work flexible hours; including frequent weekends and evenings
Have excellent written and oral communications skills
Enjoy working with youth, their parents and other adult volunteers
Be an effective networker and team-builder
Be able to successfully work with program volunteers to identify, recruit and train adult leaders to be den, troop and crew leaders
Have a solid technical aptitude for computers, social networking sites, and digital cameras
Have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Prior Scouting experience is desirable. Response to this notice should provide examples, where possible, of how the candidate meets each of the requirements above. Candidates should be willing to commit to the position for three years.
This position reports to the Executive Director.
