Pfeiffer Big Sur S.P. Interpretive Intern
Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, located 26 miles south of Carmel, CA on the Big Sur Coast. The park is inland in the Big Sur River valley with coast redwood and oak woodland forest.
You will coordinate, develop and present Junior Ranger Programs, (35%); lead nature walks and campfire programs, (25%); provide informal roving interpretation, (20%); maintain attendance records for all programs and interpretive related activities, (10%); assist in staffing Nature Center (no sales), provide public information, and perform light housekeeping and exhibit maintenance, (10%). EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: The park borders the Ventana Wilderness Area with several backcountry trails and gorges. You will have the opportunity to explore the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary or just enjoy the 90 mile stretch of rugged coastline that encompases Big Sur. You will gain experience working in a wide variety of park settings and develop techniques to work with children and diverse audiences.
