Anchorage Alaska is a city with an extensive web of trails that connect visitors and residents with our many parks. The city is close enough to the mountains that makes after work hiking and adventuring accessible. The summers are temperate usually in the sixties.
The Volunteer Program Assistant will recruit, train and manage volunteers on a variety of activities and pursue community partnerships designed to foster parkland engagement and additional volunteer opportunities. The intern will assist in providing high quality opportunities for people to engage in parks and trails improvement projects on municipal parkland. The intern will assist in planning and implementing volunteer and service projects such as trail maintenance, park clean ups, invasive weed removal, and park improvement events.
The interns will work in a partnership environment with the Volunteer Coordinator and will be exposed to a wide variety of nonprofit, government agency, and business organizations bringing resources to the table in partnership with the Anchorage Parks and Recreation.Specific goals for this project include:
Training and Benefits:The volunteer is required to participate in the safety briefing on how to utilize the tools required to perform the duties described above.
Special Requirements:Volunteer must have valid driver`s license and must show proof a clean driving record by providing a copy of their state DMV print out. Volunteer will be allowed limited use of the MOA provided vehicles when working at parks. Volunteer will adhere to all MOA driving policies, rules and requirements. All volunteers will undergo a background check in order to work on government computers.
