Salary: $38,000 - $47,000 FTE DOE + benefits

Community Educational Services (CES) seeks four Youth Program Coordinators to facilitate the empowerment of SFUSD school communities through environmental service learning. Environmental service learning is an educational pedagogy that advocates learning through serving the community, deepening connections between academic learning and the impact on the world around us, all through an environmental justice lens.

Agency Description: CES is a non-profit agency that has provided educational, employment, and community involvement services to children and youth in San Francisco since 1969. CES’ mission is to help young people transform their lives, school, and communities. CES is in an exciting growth phase. The budget of CES is approximately $3.1 million, and there is 90+ full- and part-time staff.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Environmental Service Learning Initiative Program Director, and with support from a leadership team that includes an environmental service learning curriculum specialist and teacher support and development specialist, the Youth Program Coordinators are responsible for developing, supporting and implementing either: environmental service-learning projects at various schools; or cohesive environmental service learning school-partnered programming at a specific site. Responsibilities may include: developing and awarding grants to teachers, training and technical assistance to teachers, supervision and development of staff, relationships with key stakeholders and collaborative partners, coordination of community resources for use in the classroom and curriculum, potential co-facilitation of academic classes, reporting, and representing the ESLI in the schools and wider community.

Responsibilities:
• EITHER: Support and monitor quality programming through specific projects to strengthen environmental service learning at multiple high schools through coordination of mini-grant process (including outreach, documentation, oversight of budget, reporting, and training and technical assistance);
• OR: Implement quality programming to strengthen environmental service learning at one school site through coordination of cohesive school-partnered programming to support the life of the school community (including developing relationships with school staff and supervision of 1.0 FTE Service Learning Educator)
• Empower young people to make positive impacts in their communities through environmental service learning
• Contribute to development of environmental service learning curriculum
• Establish close working relationships with schools and community organizations, and communicate regularly with ESLI leadership team to support direction of the Initiative.
• Document learning and best practices, submit reports in a timely manner
• Monitor existing and establish new collaborative agreements and Memorandums of Understanding
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications for successful employment:
• Energetic and hands-on in developing and implementing new programming through multiple collaborations; a creative and critical thinker with the ability to act quickly and produce or facilitate quality results. Persistent and determined in the pursuit of program quality and excellence.
• Demonstrated ability in building relationships and working effectively with various stakeholders
• Track record as an effective and timely communicator; skilled in writing, speaking and presenting
• Strong commitment to: youth and youth development principles; social justice and social change in practice; and sustainability and environmental education
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field plus relevant experience or three years’ related experience.
• Criminal Background Clearance from the Department of Justice and TB-tested
