Since its first grassroots victory in 1964, spearheading the acquisition and protection of Rookery Bay, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida has served as the region’s environmental leader, working proactively to protect Southwest Florida’s natural environment. A positive force in Southwest Florida for over four decades, the Conservancy has preserved more than 300,000 acres of land, introduced environmental education into the public schools and taught more than one million people about the importance of conserving the environment. The Conservancy uses policy, science, and education to ensure sustainable growth and a healthy, prosperous future for Southwest Florida’s natural environment. Today—more that ever—the Conservancy remains the influential voice for the environment taking action to protect natural resources and make Southwest Florida a better place.

Throughout each year, about 50 internships are provided to college student and grads through the Conservancy's Conservation Associate Program. The following are some of the internships during each year: Environmental Policy, Land Acquisition, Discovery Center Aquarist/Interpreter, Education Naturalists, and Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic, Science Research, Summer Camp, Sea Turtle Research. Positions are available on a rotating basis. Applicants must be minimum senior in college or recent graduate with background in biology, conservation, wildlife, research, teaching, environmental education/science, marine, or related fields.
