Are you self-directed and motivated with the ability to ride a bike and hike a somewhat primitive trail?
Then apply to be a Klickitat Trail Steward!
Klickitat Trail Steward Klickitat Trail Conservancy Northwest Service Academy - AmeriCorps Klickitat, WA
The Klickitat Trail Steward will organize volunteer groups to work and or hike/bike the trail. They will educate the general public and trail users about the trail, monitor the trail for safety and usability, and support the Corporative Working Group (US Forrest Service, State Parks, and Klickitat Trail Conservancy).
Duties Include:
• Interpret geology, native plant and animal information to hikers. • Learn how to safely use tools and work safely on the trail. • Practice safe bike training out on the trail. • Share the legal history and culture of the trail with users. • Work cooperatively with the two agencies and a non-profit to maximize use of resources. • Document clearly time spent on tasks, track and record in-kind. • Utilize knowledge of grant writing and resources.
