White Oak Canyon - Shenandoah National Park - 2006/05/04 12:16 My favorite day hike in Shenandoah National Park is called on the White Oak Canyon Trail. It's a two hour drive from DC and then it is a 7 mile circuit hike. The coolest thing about this hike is that there are waterfalls all along the way, and several opportunities to take a dip if you are so inclined. In addition to the numerous swimming holes there is a "waterslide" along the Cedar Run trail.

This hike is much less crowded than Old Rag Mountain, but doesn't have any vistas the way Old Rag does. For me, the waterfalls totally make up for it.

This website gives great information: http://www.hikingupward.com/SNP/WhiteOakCedarRun/

Have fun!
