Big South Fork, TN - Grand Gap Loop - 2006/05/04 11:28 This is an awesome relatively short backpacker's hike. Do make sure you fill up on water when you see it. I believe it was the second night that we camped out on this bluff that jetted out from the main trail. Spectacular view!
Hope you check it. It\\\'s definitely worth the trip! Tanner Snell

Here is the info from the official site:

Angel Falls and Grand Gap Loop Trail.
Angel Falls distance roundtrip: 5.6 miles, moderate
Grand Gap Loop distance roundtrip: 12.4 miles, moderate

This trail offers an exciting cliff top overlook of the river and Angel Falls Rapid. By hiking to the overlook, one also gains access to the Grand Gap Loop Trail. Both trails are part of the long distance John Muir Trail and are marked with a blue silhouette of John Muir. Use caution when approaching the overlooks and cliff tops on this trail.

The trail begins by crossing the low-water bridge to the west side of the river and continuing downstream 1.9 miles to Fall Branch. From here the trail climbs approximately 500 feet to reach the Angel Fall overlook.

If you decide to hike the 6.8 Grand Gap Loop, be prepared with water, snacks and comfortable shoes. The trail is not particularly strenuous but is remote with no water available.
