Crew Leader and Assistant Crew Leader Positions - 2008/05/06 07:54
The Minnesota Conservation Corps (MCC) engages youth and young adults in natural resources work and experiential education throughout Minnesota. MCC’s Youth Outdoors Program is currently accepting applications for part time Crew Leaders (CLs) and Assistant Crew Leaders (ACLs) for fall 2008. These positions involve supervising high-school age youth after school and on weekends in educational activities and work projects related to environmental and community stewardship.
Youth Outdoors participants spend 12 hours a week performing conservation and community service work in St. Paul and Washington County neighborhoods. Youth also participate in urban environmental education, leadership, and recreation activities each week. This isn't the typical classroom setting but instead a hands-on experience that is exciting and rewarding!
CLs and ACLs work 15 hours/week (Tues., Thurs. and Sat.). They act as mentors, work supervisors, educators and role models, facilitating healthy youth development and promoting environmental stewardship. Applicants must be at least 19 years old, have experience working with youth, and be passionate about youth, the environment and service work. Bilingual applicants desired. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required. Background checks by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and National Sex Offender Public Registry will be conducted before offers of employment are made.
