Program & Recruitment Coordinator - 2008/07/30 18:29 EarthCorps, a Seattle-based nonprofit with a mission to build global community through local environmental service, has the following regular, exempt position open mid-July to early August 2008 to recruit and support program participants and staff. The Program and Recruiting Coordinator is responsible for all local corps member recruitment and hiring; staff recruitment; corps member support and outplacement activities; and administrative support to program staff. This position reports to the Corps Program Manager.

PROGRAM AND RECRUITING COORDINATOR—Duties & Responsibilities: Responsible for all aspects of recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of participants from the United States of America for corps programs; Represent EarthCorps at job fairs and other events (tabling and public speaking); Coordinate with International Program Manager for selection of international participants; Maintain human resources paperwork, staff handbooks and other files; Provide admin and other support to program staff as needed; Support corps members with information related to their medical insurance; Coordinate with other staff to refer corps members to needed social services such as medical care and food stamps; Coordinate ordering, storage and distribution of program-related gear; Provide information for incoming corps members about housing and other logistics related to joining the program; Ensure compliance with AmeriCorps and Washington Service Corps requirements related to corps members; Maintain communications with Alumni on behalf of EarthCorps; Help current corps members develop job searching skills, maintain job posting memberships, coordinate with other agencies for corps member outplacement.

Qualifications: Bachelors degree (received or in progress) in an area related to the job or EarthCorps’ mission; At least two years administrative work experience, with computer competence (especially Excel, Word, and Access); Excellent oral and written communication skills;Ability to work independently, set and manage work priorities; Experience and comfort with public speaking; Experience with job skills training, career placement, counseling, or youth development; Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; Interest in community service, environment and youth development; Highly motivated, organized, creative self-directed and flexible; Positive attitude and sense of humor.
