POSITION TITLE: Development Manager
ABOUT EarthCorps:
EarthCorps' mission is to build global community through local environmental service. EarthCorps restores parks and open spaces while providing leadership and community service experiences for young people from the United States and around the world.
Strong Communities: EarthCorps leads 10,000 volunteers annually and partners with 100+ organizations worldwide. Healthy Habitats: EarthCorps' environmental restoration work includes salmon stream restoration, native tree plantings, invasive plant removal, wetland and shoreline restoration and trail construction. Young Leaders: In addition to the corps program, EarthCorps delivers programs for young people to learn about the environment, engage in community service and develop leadership skills through hands-on service. POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Manager is a full-time, exempt position in EarthCorps. This position supports the work of EarthCorps' fund development program. Duties include providing support for fund development activities including data-entry, filing, database management, public relations, donor relations and events, including an annual auction. The position will require the ability to be flexible and adaptable and able to handle a wide variety of work assignments. This position reports to the Development Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Event management: (35%)
Plan and implement annual fundraising events, including item procurement, invitations, volunteer management, coordination with vendors, preparing printed materials, and logistics during the event. Assist Development Director in managing logistics for 5 annual "signature" events and other fundraising events. These are hybrids between hands-on volunteer and fundraising events and will include duties such as event planning, publicity, soliciting sponsors, creating print and web collateral, and managing vendors such as graphic designers and printers.
Fund Development: (20%)
Manage donor database, including data entry, and donor files. Work in coordination with the Development Director to plan and implement an annual individual donor plan that will include board giving, campaigns by mail and phone, personal donor meetings, and special events Support grant writing activities, including researching potential donors, and writing, submitting and tracking proposals Volunteer and donor stewardship attend and assist in volunteer events including signature events. Take photos and create thank you communications. Respond to requests for information from donors
Public Relations/Marketing: (15%) The Development Manager will work in coordination with the DD to:
Develop marketing materials Write, publish and mail the newsletter (4 times/year) and an annual report Coordinate photo-documentation of programs and events, and manage digital photo files Oversee web site content, design and maintenance Represent EarthCorps at tabling events for volunteer and donor recruitment Coordinate with Development Director to develop an alumni relations program
Office Management: (15%)
Responsible for answering phones, mail distribution and upkeep of appropriate lists, and keys. Coordinate with Admin staff to provide technical support and training to other staff on computer software and hardware issues Coordinate with Admin staff on maintenance and troubleshooting of phone and voicemail systems, other office equipment, cell phones, and vehicle keys.
Program Support: (15%)
Perform other work related duties as assigned by senior staff.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or experience in a related field Demonstrated ability to complete simultaneous complex project in a timely manner Demonstrated leadership in a team setting Demonstrated ability to work independently, maintain self-motivation and persist in the face of obstacles. Ability to build rapport with donors, volunteers, and the public Excellent computer skills especially in Microsoft Office programs, graphic design programs (Adobe), and donor management software Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required Interest in community service, environment and youth development Highly organized, creative, self-directed and flexible Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record· Ability to work a variable work schedule that may include night and weekend hours Positive attitude and sense of humor
