[b:debedbfb79]SUMMARY[/b:debedbfb79]:
The Volunteer and Citizen Corps Program Administrator (Administrator) plays a key role in promoting the Citizen Corps initiative and emergency preparedness statewide by supporting the Arizona State Citizen Corps Council and its programs. Additionally, the Administrator provides support to the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism and its activities.

[b:debedbfb79]ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES[/b:debedbfb79] include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Staff the Arizona State Citizen Corps Council (AZSCCC). The Administrator is responsible for coordinating the AZSCCC bi-monthly meeting, planning and executing the AZSCCC strategic plan, managing all communication between the AZSCCC and the Governor’s Office, maintaining the AZSCCC web site (www.volunteerarizona.org), and completing other activities as needed. The Administrator is responsible for managing the membership of the AZSCCC as well as the inter-agency service agreement with the Arizona Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) that provides funding for the AZSCCC and its projects, including submitting reports to meet all contract requirements.

2. Support the work of Citizen Corps, emergency preparedness and National Service within the Governor’s Office for Children, Youth and Families. Responsibilities include attending local and statewide meetings, planning events to share best practices, and completing other activities as needed.

3. Support the work of the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism by assisting in planning and implementation of the Annual National and Community Service Conference, training National Service members on various topics, and providing quarterly reports to Commission members.

4. Represent the Division and Governor’s Office for Children, Youth and Families at local, state and national meetings.

5. Participate in activities and build partnerships with state, local and tribal agencies and community-based organizations related to Citizen Corps activities and emergency preparedness (e.g. ADEM, Arizona Emergency Services Association, National Preparedness Month).

6. Perform other duties and coordinate special projects as requested by the Division Director.

• Prepares and writes routine reports, internal memoranda and external correspondence; screens incoming calls and correspondence and responds independently to and/or forwards inquiries to appropriate staff as required.

[b:debedbfb79]WORK REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS[/b:debedbfb79]
• Bachelor’s (BA or BS) degree or equivalent required; four years experience in an administrative professional capacity or project coordination.
• Ability to pass state and federal criminal background checks.
• Experience in working with National Service programs including Citizen Corps and AmeriCorps.
• Experience in or aptitude to learn about emergency preparedness.
• Experience in developing and implementing training.
• Computer experience including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and comfortable acquiring new technology skills.
• Availability for occasional travel (in state and out of state) and work on some nights and weekends.
