[b:554cf53c11]Quebec/Labrador Foundation & Gateway National Park – SCA International Internships Positions Available: 8 Position Dates: 5/29-11/23/2006 Description: [/b:554cf53c11]This is a conservation biology program jointly managed by SCA, the Quebec/Labrador Foundation and Gateway National Park. Four Canadian and four American interns will be selected as participants. Program will start with an Orientation at QLF Canadian headquarters in Montreal. Interns will then spend 12 weeks either in New Brunswick’s Bay of Fundy or Quebec’s Lower North Shore (across from northern Newfoundland), where they will each be assigned to an internship in one of the following areas: birds, endangered species, environmental education, water quality, community conservation planning, marine biology and GIS/GPS. Housing in Canada will be with local families or in apartments. During the last week of August, interns will travel to a second Orientation at SCA headquarters in Charlestown, NH before going to Gateway National Park in New York Harbor. There they participate in a number of projects involving wetlands research, endangered species, environmental education and interpretation, GIS/GPS, beach ecology restoration, and cultural/historical research. They will be housed in NPS housing at Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island and Sandy Hook, New Jersey.
SCA Alumni ages 18 and older are encouraged to apply.
[b:554cf53c11]Benefits:[/b:554cf53c11] Stipend for the program is $160 per week, plus an AmeriCorps Award, if desired, for the US component. All transportation and training expenses are covered by SCA.
