Trail Crew Technical Advisor: The Pacific Crest Trail Association is seeking full time seasonal employees for the 2008 work season to work with youth crews and other volunteer trail crews to teach excellent trail work and oversee projects on the ground along the PCT in Oregon. Crews typically work 5-10 day projects in the back country.
Applicant should have excellent trail maintenance, rehabilitation and construction skills, and the ability to work with and teach a variety of people. Some work will require this person to train and advise crew leaders, while completing hands-on trail work. Other assignments will require a more typical project leader role, teaching volunteers, managing logistics and preparing projects for the crew. Backcountry living and Leave No Trace skills are important. Dependable personal transportation required and reimbursed. Wilderness first aid training is desirable. Salary dependent upon qualifications. Entire season is from beginning of July to end of September. Not all positions cover entire season. In addition, short term project specific positions may be offered.
