[b:260d221c43]DESCRIPTION[/b:260d221c43]: As a part of the national Campus Compact, the Kansas Campus Compact, one of 31 state Compacts nationwide, is an organization of college presidents who have come together out of a shared commitment to the public service mission of higher education and the value of integrating such service into undergraduate learning. Member institutions include private and public colleges, universities, and community colleges throughout Kansas. The purpose of Kansas Campus Compact is to: (1) assist colleges in promoting service learning and student participation in community service (2) improve collaboration and build partnerships at the state level among the faculty and presidents of higher education institutions (3) provide linkages with other state and national groups and (4) offer resources, ideas, and information to member campuses that will improve the quality of teaching and learning, support the development of Kansas’s communities, promote increased civic responsibility, prepare students for service to society, and stimulate presidential and student leadership.
[b:260d221c43]RESPONSIBILITIES[/b:260d221c43]: The Executive Director will be the primary administrator for the organization and the essential link to the national network. The Executive Director will: • Develop goals and execute strategic plan with the Presidents’ Executive Committee to implement the KSCC mission. • Secure funding, from public/private sources, to support the advancement of community-campus engagement. • Provide the Executive Committee with appropriate reports. • Work with presidents to secure funds through foundations, corporations, and friends. • Coordinate technical assistance and programmatic support to member campuses for strengthening community-based learning and skills for democracy. • Plan and implement annual conferences. • Inform member campuses of national and network news through mailings, a newsletter, and/or electronic lists. • Conduct site visits to member campuses, including meetings with presidents. • Collect and distribute program model information on member campuses and evaluate organizational activities. • Foster growth of the organization through increased membership and connection to other state, regional and national organizations. Maintain all aspects of membership services, including recruitment materials and a membership directory. • Provide leadership to staff. • Convene meetings of the Executive Committee, Advisory Board, and other ad hoc committees. • Create an effective working organization.
[b:260d221c43]QUALIFICATIONS[/b:260d221c43]: [u:260d221c43]Required[/u:260d221c43]: Ø Master’s degree with at least one year experience in higher education or non-profit sector. Ø Experience in service-learning. Ø Highly skilled in building partnerships and relating effectively with diverse audiences. Ø Experience in organizational development. Ø Administrative skills in staff supervision, financial management, program organization and implementation. Ø Proven fundraising skills and experience with grant writing. Ø Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently. Ø Leadership ability. Ø Community-based working experience. Ø Computer and word processing skills. Ø Flexibility to travel.
