AmeriCorps VISTA at TECH CORPS Texas - 2006/04/12 10:19
TECH CORPS Texas would like to announce an open VISTA position in the downtown Houston area. We are accepting immediate applications for this July start up. [b:5bd56f4d5e] VISTA DUTIES INCLUDE: [/b:5bd56f4d5e] *With the help of the VISTA Supervisor, plan and execute a new program that will enrich the lives of our participants by exposing them to college and career options available after high school.
*Develop relationships with universities that will result in our participants having the right information and interest in order to apply for admission.
*Find and develop relationships with organizations that provide college scholarships and create programs that will aid our participants in applying for those scholarships.
*Help develop new promotional and marketing materials for the program as a whole, including a regular newsletter and updating website.
*Assist in the development of proposals for projects, new programs and/or funding.
*Provide support to the Genesys Alumni organization to build an infrastructure that will offer stable benefits to the GA members.
*Work with current and new corporate supporters to start a mentoring program where employees will engage as mentors with our students.

The one-year, full-time VISTA position offers a living allowance of $812 per month. At the end of service, a $1,200 cash stipend or the VISTA may have the option of choosing a $4,725 education award after the term of service is complete.
