San Luis Obispo County is seeking an innovative, responsive and high performing business professional to lead the County Planning and Building Department with a complement of skills including planning expertise, innovative management, customer focus and passion for excellence. This high profile position requires a strong, trustworthy and visionary leader who is committed to providing superior public service to the citizens of San Luis Obispo County.
Along with professional staff, you will work with community members, various commissions, boards, associations and special interest groups to forge consensus and further the department's strategic vision. Together, the planning and building team will address challenges such as housing affordability, infrastructure limitations and resource constraints. This position manages and leads 90+ employees in the six divisions of the Planning and Building department which include: Building, Current Planning, Environmental, Long Range Planning, Community Relations, and Department Operations.
