This position works within the Sierra Network Servicing Human Resources Office (SHRO) to serve Yosemite National Park, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, the Sierra Nevada Inventory & Monitoring Network and Devils Postpile National Monument. These parks comprise vast acreage (1.6 million acres), receive significant visitation (5.2 million annually) and administratively are among the most complex units of the National Park Service.
The office location for this position is in Mariposa, California 42 miles west of Yosemite National Park, California. Yosemite National Park is known worldwide for its spectacular natural beauty. The Park embraces a spectacular tract of mountain and valley scenery in the Sierra Nevada; and harbors a grand collection of waterfalls, meadows, and forests that include groves of giant sequoias. The park covers 1182 square miles of varied wilderness ecosystems, from rivers to alpine meadows to loft 13,000 foot peaks. Mariposa is located approximately 150 miles from San Francisco (4 hours), 40 miles from Merced, and 70 miles from Fresno. Shopping, dental, medical, childcare, public schools, post office, library, market, gas stations, restaurants and laundry services are available in Mariposa.
