Employee Safety Intern:

Valley Forge National Historical Park (VAFO) is approximately 3600 acres in size located in SE Pennsylvania about 25 miles East of Philadelphia and 50 miles from Lancaster, PA. The largest mall on the east coast is just 3 miles from the Park. The Park's mission is to commemorate the encampment of the Revolutionary War Continental Army at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777-1778 and the life of George Washington.

This is a three month internship where the employee risk management intern would work under the direct supervision of the park's Occupational Safety and Health Manager. The Intern would be responsible for collecting and reviewing park wide safety data including Job Hazard Assessments’s (JHA), Safety Management Information System reports, Case Incident reports, and park wide Standing Operating Procedures.

Emphasis will be on getting the JHA’s and SOP’s into compliance with Federal, Agency, and Bureau regulations, policies, and guidelines.

The Intern would:

• Review employee accident/ injury reports and develop a trend analysis to be reviewed by senior management.
• Meet with division chiefs to review operational safety concerns and assist with Operational Leadership based risk assessments.
• Help with the design and implementation of training programs that would meet the requirements outlined in the park-wide Safety and Health program including outreach to Seasonal employees and Park Volunteers.
• Work with the safety committee in conducting park-wide audits and tracking their findings.
