Cuyahoga Valley National Park

B McCarthy (OH 2005)
CVNP is one of the top 10 most visited National Parks in the country, and I had never heard of it before I did a three month Transportation Internship during summer 05. I had a week long interpretive training from the Director of Interpretation for NPS in Detroit, and was actually room mates at the training with my room mate from my DVNP internship. I worked at the visitor center a few days a week, giving out maps, talking about the park and of course the train. I quickly learned any child under the age of 10 thinks all trains are Thomas the Tank Engine. I led education programs on the trains, helped at Canal Camp, did historic lock demonstrations, and my favorite, roving. I liked hanging out at the Beaver Marsh and riding a bike on the tow path. I went to many contra dances and took a night hike with a bunch of greyhounds. CVNP is a great urban park that continued my love for SCA and NPS.
