Summary
Five Assistant Directors (ADs) will act as counselors and mentors for high school students enrolled in a six-week residential enrichment program at the College of St. Joseph in Rutland, VT, from June 24 through August 3, 2012. ADs will participate in a required staff orientation day prior to the program start on June 23nd. The ADs will work under the direction of the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) staff and will be responsible for supervising students during structured and unstructured periods of the program. ADs will stay in the residence hall with 25 high school seniors during their days-on to provide round-the-clock supervision in eight-hour and 16-hour shifts throughout the program with rotating time-off during the program.
High School student participants in CollegeQuest will engage in personal and professional development activities in classroom and community settings. Activities will be focused on health care related topics and college preparation, with special emphasis on behavioral and mental health and pharmacy sciences.
AD Candidates should have leadership, counseling, teaching or other relevant work experience. Successful candidates will be able to work as part of a supervising team. This is a great opportunity for mature college students, MedQuest alumni or teachers. Staff will be required to stay in residential halls with students during their days on, and will be able to leave campus for two days off every six days.
