I served with SCA on Purchase Knob at the Appalachian Highlands Science Learning Center in the Smoky Mountains near Maggie Valley in North Carolina. I was teaching middle and high school kids about the effect of air quality on plants and animals. We did hands-on science collecting data on ozone damage on plants, soil testing, salamandar plots, and lichen identification.
I loved working outside with the kids on top of a mountain up at 5000ft for 3 months. It was such a wonderful place to be and explore. Met some many great people too.
