American Forests protects and restores forests, helping to preserve the health of our planet for the benefit of its inhabitants. We are looking for an enthusiastic project manager who can help us re-build our Urban Forests Program with a strong emphasis on collaborative learning and communication about the ecological and societal benefits of urban forests.
As a member of our Conservation Programs team, your responsibilities as Urban Forests Manager will include: 1) the implementation of projects and activities within the Urban Forests Program; 2) the development of information and tools on best practices and measures related to urban forests; 3) the preparation of communication materials for the website and for outreach to members, partners, and policymakers; and 4) maintaining relationships with public and private partner organizations.

This challenging and exciting opportunity requires a minimum of two years experience in project or program activity related to environmental or natural resource issues, as well as a Bachelors Degree in environmental studies, natural resources, forest science or management, or public policy and planning(with preferences for an advanced degree and study/experience focused on urban forests and related issues). Strong verbal/written communications skills, as well as skills in managing and interpreting natural resource data, are also required. Some travel outside of Washington, DC, will be required.
