Arlington County is now taking applications for its six member AmeriCorps team. Members of the team will be trained to use hand-tools, power tools and herbicides to remove invasive plants along the Four Mile Run Watershed. The team works with County staff and volunteers to re-establish native vegetative communities in Arlington’s high priority natural resource areas.
This position is for someone who is passionate about the environment and willing to serve. AmeriCorps is dedicated to helping local people solve pressing problems.
Dates: October 17, 2011 – October 16, 2012
Terms of service: Full-time AmeriCorps members will serve 35 ½ hours per week. Members commit to serve 1,700 hours over the course of a year.
Benefits & compensation: Members receive a living stipend of $1,261.58 per month, Worker’s Compensation and health insurance. Upon completing 1,700 hours of service, members are eligible to receive a $5,550 Segal Education Award.
