Description

The American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC) is a growing coalition of business networks totaling over 60,000 businesses committed to building a vibrant, just, and sustainable economy. We are seeking a highly motivated, self-directed Intern to support us in our public policy work in Washington, DC.

Internship Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated, self-directed, intern to work with us on our public policy work this summer or fall for at least 20 hours per week. The intern must have strong organizational, communication and research skills, be web savvy and have a passion for sustainable economic public policies. Experience on Capitol Hill is a plus. ASBC has quickly become a leading national voice advocating for public policies that support sustainable or triple bottom line businesses. Our issues include climate change, tax havens, benefit corporations, toxic chemical policy reform, financial reform, fair elections, and more.

Required Qualifications

 

  • Support the mission of ASBC
  • Be at least in the sophomore year of college
  • Major in Business, Public Policy, or related field
  • Be available to work in Washington DC
  • Ability to commit at least 20 hours per week
  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to detail
  • Strong communication skills

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Internet research
  • Working on legislative issues or campaigns
  • Drafting meeting minutes
  • Calling organizations & businesses to gather information
  • Drafting articles or alerts
  • Scheduling calls & meetings
  • Updating web content
