BeWaterWise Project Consultant
The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is seeking a dynamic, creative, highly motivated professional consultant to manage our Be Water Wise Program. The Be Water Wise Project Consultant is responsible for coordinating the implementation and evaluation of the Be Water Wise DC program (www.eeweek.org/be_water_wise) an innovative K-12 environmental education demonstration project designed by the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF, www.neefusa.org) that brings together public/private partners to support schools and students to learn about and implement local water conservation and storm water management projects. The consultant will build upon the Foundation’s experience piloting the program in Miami and Atlanta to manage the successful implementation of the program in Washington, D.C. through the training and support of fifteen K-12 schools; coordination of private and public sector partners; management of teacher training workshops; management of a small grants program for participating schools; coordination of local meetings and events; and evaluation implementation.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree(required) in education, environmental studies or related field; Master’s degree (preferred). Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in developing and managing programs or projects within the environmental education field in a nonprofit organization and/or the K-12 education sector. Experience in nonprofit program start-up or replication involving multiple partners from varied sectors highly desirable. Experience in more than one of the following disciplines a plus: teaching; watershed/conservation education; communications; event planning; grants management; partnership management. Successful experience with and knowledge of D.C. public schools a plus
Hours: 20-25 hours a week
Contract date: 1 year (July 15, 2011-July 15, 2012)*
