Volunteer Opportunity: Kenilworth Gardens, Washington, DC - July 18

National Park Service staff at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens are looking for volunteers to assist with set up, break down, and event coordination and management at this year's Lily Festival. The event will run from 10am to 3pm on Saturday July 18th.

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is located at 1550 Anacostia Avenue NE, Washington, DC 20019. The two nearest Metro station is Deanwood on the Orange Line.

Those interested in assisting with event set up would need to arrive at the park by 8:30am for an estimated two hour "shift" that will likely include moving tables, chairs, and other items into place for the start of the festival. Those interested in supporting event break down would begin their service shortly after 3pm and work for 90 minutes (perhaps less) assisting Park Service staff with clean up chores.

In addition, the park is looking for volunteers to help out with the following...
1) Staffing the children's Photo Safari.
2) Face painting.
3) Story telling (accomplished yarn spinners preferred!). And,
4) Leading environmentally themed children's games.

In all instances, the park will provide the materials and the necessary background information to successfully complete the project or contribute as a project leader. All "training" will take place on site the day of the event.

Requests for additional details about the 2009 Lily Festival can be founda at www.nps.gov/keaq.
