Invasive Insect Outreach and Survey Coordinators - New York State

SUMMER 2009 SEASONAL JOB OPENINGS Two Openings (Apply ASAP – interviews during early May) EMPLOYER: New York State Department of Environmental Conservation; Division of Lands and Forests JOB TITLE: Park and Recreation Aide (Campground Outreach and Survey Coordinator) LOCATION: One position in Catskills mountains (office location to be determined), one position in Warrensburg DEC Office (Adirondacks) WAGES: $10.00 to $14.00 per hour, based on experience START AND END DATES: May/Early June through Late Summer/Early Fall (Actual start and end dates TBD) GENERAL WORK DUTIES: Coordinate and implement forest pest outreach and education in DEC campgrounds in Catskills or Adirondacks by: • Conducting face to face camper and campground staff surveys, • Installing and checking emerald ash borer traps, • Scheduling and conducting forest pest interpretive programs at campgrounds, • Participating in outreach events and providing other related duties as needed, • Reaching out to local firewood vendors with firewood regulation information and conducting a survey, • Preparing project summary report (based on campground survey results), • Participating in conference calls and submitting bi-monthly updates to project team.
