The Pew Center on Global Climate Change seeks a highly qualified and committed individual to work with the Communications team to develop and implement a major corporate and community sustainability initiative. The ideal candidate is comfortable in boardrooms and lunchrooms and is able to communicate effectively across a variety of mediums. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Communications.

Starting Date: May 2011

Responsibilities include:

 

• · Assess and analyze success of programmatic events and outreach for use in adapting and improving the program
• · Cultivate and build interest in the program across a variety of constituents, including press coverage
• · Foster relationships with companies, agencies, and organizations to expand alliance membership and develop strategies for branding program
• · Convey complex information to a broad range of audiences through oral presentations and written materials
• · Develop and deliver engaging presentations for use across a wide range of audiences
• · Research and write informational materials on multiple topics, primarily focusing on individual energy efficiency actions
• · Coordinate planning and logistics for workshops, briefings, and other events as needed
• · Collaborate and manage relationships with various partners and vendors
• · Provide descriptive copy for publications, internal communications and promotional material related to the program

 

Qualifications:

 

• · Minimum 5 years experience in communications, with a focus on business and sustainability preferred
• · Advanced degree in public relations, communications or sustainability preferred
• · Strong oral presentation skills and willingness to travel to represent the Pew Center (travel 25-40% of time)
• · Strong analytical, quantitative, writing, and editing skills
• · Experience in strategic planning preferred
• · Experience with grant writing and reporting preferred
• · Experience with volunteer and/or employee training preferred
• · English fluency; other languages a strong plus
• · Ability to multitask a strong plus
• · Team player with a willingness to pitch in at all levels

 

Status: One-year term appointment.  Full-time, regular, exempt

The Pew Center is an independent, non-profit, and non-partisan organization dedicated to providing credible information, straight answers, and innovative solutions in the effort to address global climate change. The Center was formed in 1998 with a grant from the Pew Charitable Trusts. The Pew Center strives to inform the debate by publishing reports in the areas of domestic and international policy, economics, environmental impacts, and practical solutions relating to climate change. To facilitate dialogue among business, government, and non-governmental organizations, the Center hosts conferences and workshops on climate-relevant topics.
