The Tucson Botanical Gardens

After a long and arduous month of work at Coronado National Memorial, we have taken some time to focus on the Ecology of the Sonoran Desert by taking a few field trips before heading out to use chainsaws for the next 2 months at Fort Bowie National Historic Site. A nice, relaxing change of pace to nurture our mind, body and soul! This week was also a great chance for the team to focus on research for our mid-season presentation, happening in June. Stay tuned and/or be a part of our mind-blowing presentation on the Sonoran Desert and what the SCA is doing to help conserve it. Contact Annie Stencil at (208) 608 6320 for more info... P.S...We all kicked the Pack Tests' Butt! (Our last training module for Wildland Firefighting...3 miles in under 45 minutes with 45 pounds on your back) Our first field trip was to the Tucson Botanical Gardens. This little oasis in the middle of the bustling downtown of Tucson was an experience that we are very grateful for and wanted to share with you. Surrounded by plants, lizards, moths and butterflies, these photos tell a story that is too wonderful for words... In a large Iris garden, it dawned on me that they have amazingly phenominal names, just like their buds. My personal favorite : Pink Giggles.
