2011 Certification Intern
Description
The intern reports to the Certification Manager and provides vital assistance and support to the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) Certification Department. The position is based in the Silver Spring, MD office. This is a temporary position. The intern should be available for approximately 3 months between May and August, 35-40 hours per week. Schedule and duration are flexible.
Duties and Responsibilities
Answer WHC members' questions regarding certification and award applications via the phone and email; . Complete the initial application check-in and verify that all required application documents are included; . Check Wildlife at Work and Corporate Lands for Learning certification applications against the EPA's Enforcement & Compliance History Online (ECHO) website for compliance. Contact applicants who are not in compliance with Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, or Resource Conservation and Recovery Act; . Review and evaluate applicants' wildlife management plans and certification applications; . Update MS Excel sheets on a daily basis; . Become proficient with WHC's database and update information as needed; . Write and proofread press releases; . Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree OR credits towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in wildlife biology, natural resources, biology, animal science, or related field preferred. Conservation education experience is highly regarded.

- Proficiency in computer usage, including MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel . Excellent interpersonal skills . Writing and proofreading skills . Customer service skills
Compensation
This is a paid internship and/or WHC can work with universities/colleges if credits are desired.
