Summer Job for Environmental Educator at Legacy's Global Youth Village

Looking to broaden your international perspectives while working with engaged, idealist teens?

Then join our staff team at Legacy International's Global Youth Village. Each summer, a dynamic environment is created that emphasizes experiential learning and challenges young people to turn cross-cultural theory into practical action. This year over 80 teens from around the world will participate. Workshops address issues concerning young people today, such as regional conflicts, distribution of world resources, prejudice, and the effects of social pressures. Cultural programming and cooperative living help participants learn to respect differences and discover similarities that transcend cultural, religious, and political barriers.

A position is open for a teacher/trainer for the "Green Your World" workshop: Guide youths through an exploration of the natural world and the complex issues facing global ecosystems. Inspire them to incorporate sustainable living practices into their daily lives. Explore such key concepts as eco-tourism, permaculture, fair trade, green building, organic agriculture and renewable energy.

Workshops meet for approximately 7 days out of each 11 day session, 1.5 hrs/day. Applicants are expected to have previous professional teaching experience and facile knowledge of a broad range of environmental issues from varied perspectives. Experience in curriculum design, experiential training methods, and working with multicultural groups is also preferable.

Dates: June 24 - August 1, 2011.

Positions are residential and include housing and meals plus a modest$300/week stipend/salary.

Other positions are also open for live-in cabin counselors/program specialists (arts & crafts, rock climbing, pool life guarding).
