Status / Compensation: Full-time, Salary range $32,500 - $34,000
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa provides hands-on environmental stewardship and service-learning opportunities to young adults while accomplishing habitat restoration projects. Young Adults (ages 18-25) receive training and complete natural resource work on crews of five AmeriCorps members annually from February through December. Central district crews are located throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
The Assistant District Manager position is integral to the Young Adult program’s goal of accomplishing habitat restoration projects within the state, as well as providing training, education, coordination and leadership to ensure a positive and safe experience for AmeriCorps participants. The Central Assistant District Manager will report directly to the Central District Manager, and will assist in all aspects of district operations including but not limited to program planning, policy enforcement, work project management, and member hiring and training.
Responsibilities:
•Assist with the personnel functions of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, and performance management of 45+ corpsmembers.
•Schedule, and manage work projects for multiple crews in cooperation with the District Manager.
•Assist with field coordination, ensuring that habitat restoration projects are accomplished in an efficient, safe, and consistent manner.
•Facilitate crew preparedness to complete each project, through communication with project partners, Field Specialists and Crew Leaders.
•Facilitate regular communications between Field Specialists, crew leaders and crew members.
•Acquire, maintain and inventory tools and equipment.
•Provide educational, technical, and safety training for district corpsmembers.
•Oversee corpsmember development to ensure that participants achieve personal and program success through the principles of teamwork and service-learning.
•Administer district safety program ensuring that corpsmembers are familiar with safety practices and procedures relating to work projects.
•Assist on matters of planning, policy, budget and public relations in cooperation with District Manager.
•Work with crews in the field to provide guidance on technical projects and perform spike camp and emergency response duties as assigned.
•Collect, verify, and submit district records including personnel paperwork, timesheets, work accomplishment reports, evaluations and training records.
Qualifications:
•Supervisory and programming experience (preferably with college age cohort).
•Working knowledge of conservation project management from a variety of disciplines such as trail construction, timber stand improvement, habitat restoration and prairie/forest management.
•Experience with hand and power tools, tree felling and chainsaw operations, and construction.
•Demonstrated experience in coordinating and facilitating training.
•Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•Ability to work well with minimal supervision, multi-task, and be flexible in responsibilities.
•Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
•A current First Aid/CPR certificate or better.
•Familiarity with AmeriCorps and local, state and federal natural resource agencies.
•Four-year degree in a related field is preferred.
