Online Marketing Intern
Oceana is looking for assistance with its online marketing efforts. This is a great opportunity to use the skills that you have gained by using social media or online content generation, things you might do every day on the internet, all while making a difference for the oceans and learning new skills.
The intern will assist online outreach efforts with a number of tasks that could include: communicating with activists via email or phone; inputting constituent information; writing content for online; and communicating campaign information via social media websites and updating pages. The intern will also have the opportunity to develop special outreach projects based on his/her specific skills and interests.
Responsibilities include:
* Research web sites for online advertising;
* Write copy for text and banner ads;
* Track our progress using Google Analytics and other monitoring tools;
* Stay abreast of nonprofit technology and Web 2.0 trends;
* Develop HTML pages and emails for campaigns;
* Assist with social media outreach efforts; and
* Develop search engine optimized content from pre-existing original content.
A familiarity with social networking sites and blogs, and Web 2.0 technologies such as widgets and RSS as well as basic HTML/CSS knowledge are desired. Solid communication, organization, and Office skills along with basic awareness of environmental issues preferred. The ideal candidate will exhibit good judgment when communicating online and be a quick learner.
Interns should be available to work 30 hours a week for at least 10 weeks [preferably 3-6 months]. Stipends are available. Oceana accepts interns who receive academic credit for their internship. Undergraduates, recent graduates, and graduate students are all encouraged to apply.
