PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Indonesian-US Youth Leadership Exchange (IULX) offers high school students a practical, hands-on training experience in environmental action, leadership development, and global competency. This two-way exchange will focus on community activism to address local and regional environmental issues. The initiative has multiple phases in the United States and in Indonesia. Complementary training activities on both continents will prepare the participants to fulfill a series of program commitments in their schools and communities.

FULL TIME, TEMPORARY POSITION: Lead Trainer & Program Escort
2011 DATES: June 16-July 17 (USA) AND November 25-December 17 (Indonesia)
JOB DESCRIPTION: Summer AND Fall employment opportunity for experienced, dynamic trainer of young people to design and deliver training sessions with targeted content in community activism, environment education, and leadership development for 16 Indonesian high school students, 2 Indonesian high school teachers, 6-8 American high school students. Live 4 days in San Francisco Bay area, 4 days in Washington DC, 12 days at Legacy’s youth leadership training program, the Global Youth Village, with 50+ additional youth and staff. Escort US participants on 22-day program to Indonesia for all expenses paid environment service tour. Work with experienced, dedicated individuals committed to furthering the cause of environmental sustainability, religious tolerance and cultural understanding. Includes 9-day staff training component on the GYV campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Professional experience training youth in leadership, global issues, or environment education;
2. Background in environment education, knowledgeable of basic environmental issues:
3. Experience with community action, volunteerism;
4. Proven ability to multi-task under pressure, manage group dynamics and cultural adjustment;
5. Ability to working as part of a collaborative team;
6. Ability to facilitate discussions, help participants integrate lessons from various activities;
7. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively utilizing effective cross-cultural techniques;
8. Must display cultural sensitivity and professionalism, especially under pressure;
9. Receptive to and knowledgeable of Islamic 'culture', as well as other world religions and cultures;
10. Previous international travel experience;
11. Enthusiastic, self-motivated with high personal stamina. Good character, integrity, self-reflective;
12. Possesses strength and endurance required to oversee both the training and this travel program,
13. U.S. citizen or authorized for employment in U.S.;
14. Minimum age of 21 (to qualify for driving rental vehicles);
15. Fluent in English; Knowledge of Bahasa Indonesian helpful;
16. U.S. citizen or currently authorized to work in the U.S.

FULL TIME, SUMMER POSITION: Program Assistant
2011 DATES: June 1 – July 17 (USA program)
JOB DESCRIPTION: Summer employment opportunity for dynamic, thoughtful individual to provide daily logistic and programmatic support for 16 Indonesian high school students, 2 Indonesian high school teachers, 6-8 American high school students receiving training in community activism, environment education, and leadership development. Live 4 days in San Francisco Bay area, 4 days in Washington DC, 12 days at Legacy’s youth leadership training program, the Global Youth Village, with 50+ additional youth and staff. Work with experienced, dedicated individuals committed to furthering the cause of environmental sustainability, religious tolerance and cultural understanding. 2. Previous international travel experience;
3. Proven ability to multi-task under pressure, manage a groups schedule
4. Ability to work as part of a collaborative team;
5. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively utilizing effective cross-cultural techniques;

6. Receptive to and knowledgeable of Islamic 'culture', as well as other world religions and cultures;
7. Technical experience with computers, word processing, use of basic office equipment, digital camera;
8. Ability to approach tasks creatively and flexibly, using circumstances as learning opportunities;
9. Enthusiastic, self-motivated with high personal stamina; good character, integrity, self-reflective;
10. Possesses strength and endurance required to help manage this travel program;
11. Optional experience in training or teaching youth is a plus;
12. U.S. citizen or authorized for employment in U.S.;
13. Minimum age of 21 (to qualify for driving rental vehicles);
14. First aid & CPR certified by June 1, 2011;
15. Fluent in English;
16. U.S. citizen or currently authorized to work in the U.S.
