Invasive Plant Management Intern

Categories:

Interns will be working in the temperate rain forests, wetlands, and coastal dunes of Lewis and Clark National Historical Park (www.nps.gov/lewi) and Leadbetter Point, Cape Disappointment, and Fort Columbia State Parks (http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/region/?selectedregion=pacificcoast). Interns will be housed in Washington State Park housing; complete with a private bedroom and shared kitchen/living/bathroom facilities.

However, public transportation is not available. Having your own vehicle is highly recommended. Interns will be reimbursed for mileage for driving to the housing location.

Come work for the National Park Service and Washington State Parks in a combined effort to help keep our park lands free from plant invaders!Help identify invasive plant infestations and assist with stopping their spread to protect native vegetation and support restoration efforts.  Interns will conduct field inventory, mapping, and control (manual, mechanical and chemical) of invasive plant species.  Interns will provide support and occasional oversight for peer summer work crews, joining forces to tackle large infestations.  Interns will also present a year-end report or presentation to park managers detailing their findings and accomplishments.
