Each agency counts on SCA interns to accomplish certain goals for the season. Work schedules and plans are made according to the agreed-upon dates of your tour of duty. If for any reason you leave your position before your tour of duty is completed, you must notify both your Coordinator/Supervisor and your SCA Program Representative .Under most circumstances you are required to return the unearned portion of the living allowance. To avoid jeopardizing your return travel grant and your AmeriCorps education award (if applicable), confirm your starting and ending dates with your Coordinator or Supervisor well in advance of beginning your position. When you discuss these dates with your Coordinator, take into consideration any commitments you have after your tour of duty is complete (e.g. school, job, etc.). Do not commit yourself to position dates you cannot fulfill. With agreement by the Coordinator, you are free to decide upon dates that are mutually satisfactory. However, you may not shorten or extend your program without notifying SCA in advance.
