My name is Ryan Morgan and I was born and raised in Birmingham, AL. My favorite past times are caving, photography, and cycling but I enjoy most outdoor sports. I've been caving since I was 9 years old, and been in caves across the Southern US and in Mexico. I am very interested in sustainable living and I hope to one day teach people how to live a more rewarding life with less impact on our environment. I enjoy nature photography because of the window into nature it provides for people that may not get to see the beauty Earth has to offer, and I believe that is very important in a society that is quickly losing touch with nature.
Alright a little about myself, I most recently completed my undergraduate from Ohio University. I am originally from Lakewood, Ohio, a city in the Cleveland area. I have had many different jobs over the past ten years, ranging from volunteering at a mental hospital to working as a bartending, and even working with a repossession agent. I consider myself flexible in most situations, and am looking forward to this summer with the SCA.
William Bradley Baughman ("Brad") was born in Flint, and raised in Swartz Creek, Michigan. He graduated with a BS in Biology from Alma College in Alma, MI, in 2009. While at Alma, he learned how to do science by working on his own research project on zooplankton, learned how to sing by spending 4 years in the Choir, and learned about the world by travelling internationally. Since graduation he worked for the summer on the Ant & Grasshopper Organic Farm in northern MI, and passed the winter substitute-teaching at Swartz Creek, reading, and playing the piano. He enjoys plants, animals, card-playing, learning, making music, and travelling.
Laurie started with SCA as a corps member at the Mass Parks AmeriCorps program. There, she taught environmental education and did trail work around the state of Massachusetts. She also did trail work with SCA on the Pacific Crest Trail in Northern California. She went to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo for her undergrad in Psychology. This will be Laurie's first summer with the Idaho AmeriCorps program. She is from the Los Angeles area.
Justin has been with SCA since his first internship during the summer of 2006 at Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. He followed that first position as a member of SCA's Desert Restoration Corps in the Yuha Desert and has been leading SCA crews since. This is his third summer working in Idaho with SCA and his second with SCA's Idaho AmeriCorps program. Justin is from the great state of Wisconsin.
I'm a 24 y/o native of the San Francisco Bay Area and a Type 1 (insulin dependent/juvenile) diabetic. This is my first internship with SCA and first time visiting Idaho. I'm a student at Northern Arizona University, studying Public Agency Services. I'm actively involved in the diabetic community, love travelling, seeing new places & taking adventures.
Jackie began her service as an AmeriCorps member in the Adirondacks back in 1999. Since that time she has taken on a variety of positions with SCA varying from intern, to recruiter, to temporary cook, to crew leader, to most recently Education and Service Learning Manager with SCA's Mass Parks AmeriCorps. During that time she also spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala, went to graduate school with the Audubon Expedition Institute, and was the first recipient of the Spirit of SCA alumni award. She is glad to once again be working for SCA and is happy revisiting her western roots.
