Hey, my name is Chris Hensley and I'm from Germantown, Ohio. I'm 23 years old and just graduated from Miami University(OH) with a BFA in photography. I enjoy hiking, nature, exploring the US/world, macro photography with reptiles and amphibians, concerts, reading/learning, and truly enjoying life. I have no ultimate goal I wish to achieve in life as I feel many people do but simply doing what I love, always taking chances without regrets, and making some great acquaintances along the way is the life I choose to lead. As the great Hunter S. Thompson once said, "It never got weird enough for me."
The Alleghany Highlands Trail System crew is a 6 month trail crew consisting of 5 members and one project leader. We will be working in the George Washington Jefferson National Forests, in the James River District in partnership with USDA Forest Service. The Alleghany Highlands Trail System is a planned trail network that will eventually allow horses, hikers and mountain bikers a continuous loop of scenic trail.
This season will be:
-Creating new trail
-Improving existing trail
-Building drainage structures such as rolling dips
and water bars
-Creating a clear trail corridor by logging and brushing the
the trail
-Building rock steps and retaining walls
Members have traveled from across the country to work on these new scenic trails in rural Virginia. This is our team at the begining of member training.
