The Student Conservation Association (SCA), America’s #1 conservation service organization seeks a Program Assistant to support the Baltimore Community Program Manager.
Program Dates: July 8th – August 16th, 2013
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work in SCA’s Baltimore field office to assist SCA and Civic Works Program staff with coordinating conservation projects for crews
- Act as a liaison with agency partners and crew leaders
- Manage SCA’s gear and tool cache
- Assist with crew leader training and closing ceremonies
- Plan weekly environmental education field days
- Serve as alternate crew leader if needed
Qualifications:
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Must have ability to legally work in the US
- Must be able to attend mandatory Crew Leader training: (June 6th – June 14th, 2013)
- Current First Aid certification & CPR required by the start of the training
- Experience working with youth or young adults (ages 14-18), teaching in an educational environment a plus
- Previous Project Management experience
- Experience with land management agencies, trail maintenance, construction experience and chainsaw certification preferred
- Knowledge of SCA programs; Familiarity with Baltimore Parks preferred
- Microsoft Office proficiency – including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Valid driver’s license and MVR that meets SCA standards required
- Ability to meet SCA’s criminal background check standards
Compensation: Days off and part-time schedule could be worked out. Pay based on $585/week for 40 hours. Discounted group housing available.
